Stathi G. Marcopulos Before joining JHREP in 2007, his relationship was preceded by four years when he was a partner with Cox, Castle & Nicholson, LLP, in Irvine, where his practice focused on commercial acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing and finance specializing in multifamily and shopping center transactions. Mr. Marcopulos represented developers, owners, lenders, borrowers, landlords and tenants and others involved in complex real estate transactions for 20 years before joining JHREP.

Mr. Marcopulos’ responsibilities include providing advice and counsel to the JHREP principals, regional and department management as well as outside management in real estate matters including assisting with transactional work; assessing legal risks and opportunities and advising accordingly; overseeing the documentation and negotiations related to acquiring and leasing of the real estate assets of the Company; assisting in the development of policies and procedures; supervising outside counsel and handling legal matters or projects ranging from simple to complex. He also participates on cross-functional teams, introducing new and creative problem solving approaches to operations, management and accounting to improve overall quality and efficiency of day-to-day operations.

Mr. Marcopulos has authored numerous articles on real estate topics including “Title Update: Ensure That Proper Endorsements are Issued for Leasehold Interest” published in the California Real Estate Journal; "Protecting the 'Mom and Pop' Tenant Without Blowing the Deal" for the California Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) Real Property Law Reporter; “Disclosure Dilemma” for Builder Magazine; “Preventive Medicine: Using Alternative Dispute Resolution Before a Construction Defect Claims Makes You Sick” published in California Structures; and “Putting Yourself in the Driver’s Seat Before You Acquire a Partially-Built Subdivision” for Cox, Castle & Nicholson’s Perspectives on Real Estate newsletter. He also co-authored four chapters on “Utilities”, “Common Area Costs”, “Title and Quiet Enjoyment” and “Miscellaneous Clauses and Execution of Lease” for the California Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) California Commercial Leasing Series (Retail Leasing).

Mr. Marcopulos is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, National Multi Housing Council and Southern California Apartment Association. He is a member of the State Bar of California and the Orange County Bar Association. He is actively involved in the local real estate community and has lectured on numerous issues related to real estate finance and subdivision development for the University of California, Irvine real estate graduate studies program.

Mr. Marcopulos earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, with distinction, from Stanford University. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California at Los Angeles. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1987.
