Gary C. Otto
Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of JH Real Estate Partners, Inc.
Mr. Otto is responsible for all financial aspects of the companies, including financing, reporting and banking and investor relationships. He has been actively involved in commercial and multifamily real estate for more than 26 years.
Prior to founding JHREP, from 1990 through 1995, Mr. Otto was CEO/CFO for Hunt Enterprises, Inc., which owned and operated approximately 5,000 multifamily units. Mr. Otto’s responsibilities included overseeing all acquisitions, dispositions, financings, reporting, daily operations and general strategic planning. He directed all facets of the company’s business, including overseeing the management division daily operations, banking and lender relations and all acquisition due diligence and underwriting. He has also served in executive positions for The Arbor Group, Inc. in Los Angeles, and Klaff Realty, Inc. and Altschuler, Melvoin and Glasser, CPA’s, in Chicago.
Mr. Otto immigrated to this country in 1986 from South Africa. Prior to 1986, he served as a vice president of finance for a real estate developer for two years and spent five years with the international accounting firm, The KPMG Group, in Durban, South Africa. Mr. Otto has a Bachelor of Commerce degree (graduated first in class), and a post graduate Diploma in Accounting, both from the University of Natal, South Africa; both received through part-time studies while working a full-time job with The KPMG Group. Mr. Otto successfully completed the national Chartered Accountants (South Africa) qualifying examination in 1984.
He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the National Multi Housing Council and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
